Littleton Planning Board Sends King Street Rezoning to Town Meeting, Defers Bank Vote

LITTLETON — January 5, 2023 — Littleton Planning Board advances King Street rezoning and edges toward Northern Bank approval. At its January 5 meeting, the board voted 5-0 to recommend a zoning bylaw amendment expanding the King Street Common district to six parcels on King and Great Road — including 410 Great Road — to the February 15 Special Town Meeting, with a last-minute edit striking "King Street" from the building height step-back provision after members expressed concern that four-story buildings could otherwise be permitted along the existing commercial street. The board also continued the long-running Northern Bank and Trust site plan public hearing to February 2, with three of four members present — the chair, Bartlett, and Delisa — stating they expected to vote for approval once conditions were finalized; member Anna said she was still considering. Peer review consultant Jesse Yang of Utile told the board the proponent had "generally satisfactorily revised and updated the plans" across roughly 10 to 11 comments, with Building A's rotation off the Great Road street wall remaining as the one unresolved code deviation deferred to board discretion. The board reached consensus to pursue a compressed two-virtual-workshop schedule targeting the May 1 Annual Town Meeting for the MBTA Communities station-area zoning study, with public workshops set for February 9 and March 8.
