Littleton conservation board votes for town-owned docks
Conservation Commission · Meeting of September 22, 2026
Littleton conservation panel backs town-owned docks, splits on boat storage. The Conservation Commission voted 5-1 Tuesday to recommend the town pursue town-owned docks rather than license private ones on the Lakeshore Drive parcel along Long Lake, with member Edward Fultz the lone dissent. A separate recommendation on organized boat storage split 3-2, with Fultz casting a mixed vote he said was "for on the ground and a nay for rack." Town Counsel Tom Harrington told the board that licensing private docks required to stay open to the public is "a tough burden" to impose on residents.
Elsewhere, the commission voted 4-1 with one recusal to issue an order of conditions for a 23,500-square-foot retail building at 550 King Street, after resident Michelle McDevitt questioned adding retail space with two strip malls already vacant in town. The commission also approved, unanimously, a multi-year water-quality sampling permit tied to a settled Conservation Law Foundation lawsuit against Patriot Beverages.
