Littleton School Committee Designates Warrant Signer, Closes Out Busy 2023-24 School Year

LITTLETON — May 30, 2024 — Littleton School Committee closes 2023-24 year with national food award and IEP navigator launch. The committee voted unanimously to designate member Justin McCarthy to sign district accounts payable and payroll warrants for the remainder of FY24 and all of FY25. Nutrition Services Director Leah Votko announced that Littleton Public Schools won the USDA Innovation in Cultural Diversity of School Meals Recognition Award — revealed publicly for the first time at the meeting — and said she had been invited to speak at the School Nutrition Association annual conference in Boston in July; the district had already won the state's Terrific Tray Award for best food program in Massachusetts. Director of Student Services Lynn Snow reported that nine IEP navigators, funded through the state's 274 program improvement grant, have been named to support colleagues through the rollout of the first new Massachusetts IEP form in over 22 years, with full-day training sessions scheduled for June 3 and June 6. Snow also presented revisions to the district's anti-bullying plan featuring a substantially expanded cyberbullying definition, and agreed to place 2023-24 bullying data on an early fall meeting agenda. Superintendent Kelly Clenshie reported 122 students graduating Friday, with 49 heading out of state, and said the district hopes to bring a Shaker Lane School funding request — for a project roughly 48 percent subsidized by MSBA — to Spring 2025 Town Meeting.
