Littleton School Committee approves new superintendent's first-year goals and tightens kindergarten cutoff. The board voted unanimously to approve four first-year goals for new Superintendent Michael Caira, including a Portrait of a Learner implementation target and a June 2027 educator-evaluation deadline. Members also gave first-reading approval to a revised entrance-age policy eliminating principal discretion for children born just after September 1, and a new equity policy required under the state's LEADS Act.
The committee accepted $521,904 in federal and state grants, including a $389,940 IDEA entitlement, and reported 101 students, about 16 percent of registrations, signed up late for buses this year. Resident Carrie Lavoie told the board "communication is a two-way street" during debate over a still-unsettled community engagement goal. The paraeducators' union ratified its contract by "overwhelming margins" the day before the meeting, with committee ratification expected September 24.
