Littleton Planning Board Demands Odor Fix Before Ruling on Marijuana Facility Expansion

LITTLETON — August 3, 2023 — Littleton Planning Board sends marijuana facility expansion to consultant review amid odor complaints. The board opened a consolidated public hearing on Sanctuary Medicinals' application to renew its adult-use marijuana special permit and add a roughly 14,300-square-foot packaging building at 234 Taylor Street, but continued the matter to September 7 after directing the applicant to submit a full odor management plan and equipment cut sheets for independent review. Air-quality consultant Mike Landon of Tech Environmental described planned upgrades including ground-level activated-carbon exhaust scrubbers and recirculating filtration units in hallways, but board member Anna stated bluntly, "I really resent the fact that Sanctuary has not fixed this and it is so frustrating that there are no consequences." Neighbors from Hill Road and Taylor Street described cannabis odors at a graduation party of 84 guests, at school bus stops, and on daily walks. The board also approved unanimously the preliminary subdivision plan for 550 King Street filed by La Pulle Companies, continued site plan review of the historic 12 Robinson Road redevelopment to August 17, and declined to release a $40,000 Dean Lane subdivision bond until a drainage repair cost estimate is obtained.
