Littleton Conservation Commission Unanimously Approves Three Permits at May Meeting
Littleton Conservation Commission approves three permits and streamlines hazard-tree removal at May 28 meeting.
LITTLETON -- May 28, 2024, Littleton Conservation Commission approves three permits and streamlines hazard-tree removal at May 28 meeting. The commission voted unanimously to extend the permit for a septic replacement at 5 Cottage Way by three years, approve a minor modification and a separate three-year extension for Japanese knotweed control at the town library (Mass DEP 204-0909), and grant a negative determination with a bylaw waiver for a 24-foot public-access boardwalk at 7 New Estate Road, a project brought by the Bicycle and Pedestrian Committee and representing the only barrier to trail access on cemetery commission land near Hartwell Avenue. The commission also authorized conservation staff to approve removal of up to four dead or hazard hemlocks in the Fort Pond buffer zone without individual permit hearings. Two public hearings were continued: the Littleton Light and Water Department's warehouse renovation at 97 Mill Road awaits a DEP file number before it can close, while the Spectacle Pond Road commercial building project, which now incorporates five plan revisions including a relocated driveway and a riverfront restoration area equal to 120 percent of altered area, was pushed to June 18 to allow time for third-party peer review by Green Engineering.
