Littleton Conservation Commission Issues Two Permits, Continues Amazon EV Charging Hearing

LITTLETON — August 20, 2024 — Littleton Conservation Commission opens Amazon EV charging hearing, demands alternatives study before buffer work proceeds. The commission voted unanimously at its August 20 meeting to issue a Certificate of Compliance for 5 Kaleva Way and to approve an Order of Conditions for a gazebo and dock rebuild at 3 Cottage Way, then opened a contentious first hearing on a plan by Amazon Delivery Services to convert 166 parking stalls at 151 Taylor Street to electric vehicle charging, a project that would disturb approximately 2,800 square feet of wooded wetland buffer and remove four trees up to roughly 20 inches in diameter. Chair Chase told engineers from Kimley Horn that a written alternatives assessment is required before the commission will consider approving the route through resource areas, saying "just because something is going to be marginally more expensive doesn't make it infeasible." The hearing was continued to September 10, when the commission also expects updates on a 30 Warren Street enforcement order restoration and the unresolved legal status of a non-lease parcel at Nagog Hill Farm estimated to require $1,800 to formally subdivide and record.
