Littleton Conservation Commission Approves Long Lake Dock Storage in Buffer Zone

LITTLETON -- June 10, 2025, Littleton Conservation Commission approves Long Lake dock storage in wetland buffer, continues two contested hearings. The commission voted unanimously Tuesday to amend an order of conditions for Long Lake docks, DEP 204-1001, allowing dock sections to remain stored on impervious pavers approximately 17 feet inside the 50-foot buffer zone, a reversal of language Conservation Agent Tim Pearson said was included in the original order by clerical error. Park and Recreation Director Tim Mikulski explained that moving the docks outside the Long Lake buffer would still place them within the 50-foot buffer of a drainage outfall that feeds the lake, and that no alternative storage location exists on the property. Commissioner Chase Grabowski, who led the discussion, noted that storage on existing pavers presents no measurable resource area impact. The commission also continued the Foster Street reconstruction hearing, DEP 204-0991, after directing engineer Aaron Keegan of Foster O'Neill to produce a feasibility study on groundwater recharge alternatives to the five leaching catch basins that seasonal high groundwater rendered uninstallable, the project has already added roughly 0.6 acres of impervious surface to the corridor. In a unanimous vote, the commission appointed Lauren Redosh as assistant conservation agent, pending background checks.
