Littleton Conservation Commission Amends Blood Road Dredging Order, Bans Docks and Motorboats

LITTLETON — April 30, 2026 — Littleton Conservation Commission votes to ban docks and motorboats at illegally dredged Blood Road lakefront. The commission voted 4-1 Thursday to amend an existing enforcement order at 8 Blood Road on Lake Matawanakee, adding an explicit prohibition on dock installation and motorboat use in the area where non-permitted dredging occurred — a gap in the original order that property owner John Scott exposed when he installed a dock and put his boat in the water the weekend of April 25. Conservation Agent Tim Pearson had warned Scott that the action would violate the cease-and-desist terms; Pearson observed the dock and boat in the water on April 27. The commission also voted 4-0 to formally delegate ticket-issuing authority to the Conservation Agent, putting enforcement teeth in place for future violations. Co-Chair Chase Gerbig, who moved both measures, said he was "more than a little bit frustrated" but was willing to proceed with the amended order to establish a clear record. The commission expects to receive a scope-of-work proposal from Green International at its next meeting, scheduled for May 12.
