Littleton Conservation Commission Advances Long Lake Beach Trail and Dock Permits
Littleton Conservation Commission signals permitting path forward for Long Lake Beach improvements and declines to cite lakefront homeowner over disputed sand.
LITTLETON -- April 2, 2024, Littleton Conservation Commission signals permitting path forward for Long Lake Beach improvements and declines to cite lakefront homeowner over disputed sand. The commission, meeting April 2, told Parks and Recreation Director Tim Peterson that a proposed permanent ADA-accessible beach path and a new seasonal fishing dock at Long Lake Beach will each require a Notice of Intent, the more formal conservation filing, before any construction can begin, with staff recommending consolidating the dock permit with existing seasonal dock approvals into a single three-year filing. The board voted unanimously to issue a negative determination for a roughly 70-foot boardwalk extension at the Cloverdale conservation area and continued a separate Cloverdale ADA trail Notice of Intent to April 16 pending a state DEP file number. On a disputed placement of an estimated two to three cubic yards of sand near a permitted retaining wall at 49 Manitawanaki Road, the commission found insufficient evidence to support an enforcement order and closed the matter with a reminder to owners to call staff before any future sand work. The commission also learned that a second appraisal of the Webster property, a parcel that stalled at Town Meeting when a $600,000 appraisal fell short of a $1.4 million seller ask, is expected by May 1, with the Select Board holding a placeholder warrant article and a special commission meeting possible if the new number opens negotiating room.
