Littleton Conservation Commission Adopts Lakeshore Dock Compliance Policy With Two-Year Fee Waiver

LITTLETON — April 16, 2024 — Littleton Conservation Commission adopts lakeshore dock compliance policy and approves two land use permits at April 16 meeting. The commission voted unanimously to adopt a new Lakeshore Compliance Dock Policy giving property owners whose seasonal docks predate January 1, 2021 a two-year window to file for Wetlands Protection Act permits without paying the town's local bylaw filing fee of $50; state DEP fees and newspaper notice costs of roughly $200 to $300 remain the applicant's responsibility. Chair Ed Fultz and member Michael Livingston settled on the two-year grace period after Livingston argued a single season would be insufficient to reach all affected owners. The commission also unanimously approved a land use permit for the Parks, Recreation, and Community Education department to install a seasonal fishing pier on conservation land at Lakeshore Drive for summers 2024 through 2027, and approved the Littleton Historical Society's request to hold a Freedom's Way Hidden Treasures event at the Hartwell Family Memorial Preserve on May 18. Three separate Parks and Recreation notices of intent — for seasonal dock installation, an ADA-accessible beach path, and an ADA trail at Cloverdale — were continued to May 14 pending MassDEP file numbers.
