Park and Rec Commission sets Sept. 21 feedback session on Long Lake Beach dock plans.

TOWN -- The Littleton Park and Recreation Commission is reworking its plans for the docks at Long Lake Beach, with commissioners at an Aug. 11 meeting discussing removal of a planned swim platform from the "swim box" area over lifeguard staffing and liability concerns. The project already carries roughly $57,000 in approved Community Preservation Committee funding for a fishing dock, a swim-box platform and a floating raft, but revised pricing has come in near $54,000 without the swim platform. Staff said the savings could go toward accessibility upgrades, including ramps, railings and an ADA-accessible kayak launch, for the fishing dock and raft. The commission set a public feedback session for Monday, Sept. 21, at 6 p.m. at Long Lake Beach. Commissioners also confirmed the Recreation Department has posted a program coordinator opening as part of ongoing staffing efforts.
