Littleton Select Board Opens May Town Meeting Warrant With 30 Proposed Articles

LITTLETON — February 24, 2025 — Littleton Select Board opens Annual Town Meeting warrant and honors Olympic fencing coach. The board voted 5-0 Monday to open the warrant for the May 6, 2025 Annual Town Meeting, setting a March 24 closing deadline, and walked through a preliminary list of 30 articles that includes an operating budget, school building stabilization transfers, and a proposed surplus declaration for Town Hall at 37 Shattuck Street intended to support deeply affordable senior housing development. The board also voted unanimously to approve four permanent conservation restrictions — one for the Hager Homestead at 336 King Street and three for parcels known as "the Point" — and appointed Robert Abari to the Economic Development Committee. Director of Elder and Human Services Liz Trudiac reported that the Friends of the Littleton Council on Aging donated $25,000 in lobby naming rights for the new Shattuck Street senior center, pushing the Friends' calendar-year total contributions past $90,000. The board recognized Ralph Biesdorf, a Littleton resident who coached the U.S. women's foil fencing team to a gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics — the first such U.S. team gold since 1904 — with Biesdorf telling the board that after Paris, "going home means Littleton, Massachusetts."
