Littleton School Committee unanimously approves youth baseball group's Jet Field lighting plan

LITTLETON — February 27, 2025 — Littleton School Committee unanimously approves a donor-funded $163,000 lighting project at Jet Field, the town's primary softball complex. Littleton Youth Baseball and Softball President David Manis told the committee his 501(c)(3) organization — which had more than 420 registrants last spring and has grown roughly 10 percent annually — will cover the full cost, estimated between $163,000 and $208,000 depending on bedrock conditions discovered during preliminary drilling in March, and will donate the completed installation to the school district upon project completion. A $50,000 equipment deposit has already been placed with Musco Sports Lighting. The committee also adopted the 2025-26 school year calendar, setting the first student day as August 26 and the projected last day as June 16, 2026, and approved a second reading of Policy IKF on graduation requirements, both unanimously. Middle School Principal Jason Everhart and High School Principal John Harrington presented draft grading and assignment return guidelines intended to restore pre-pandemic communication standards, a framework that will be rolled out to the full LHS faculty following the meeting.
