Littleton Select Board Unanimously Adopts Town's First Climate Action Plan

LITTLETON — July 13, 2026 — Littleton Select Board adopts first Climate Action Plan and fills long-vacant health director post. The board voted unanimously Monday to adopt a 33-measure Climate Action Plan developed with the Northern Middlesex Council of Governments and funded through an Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant, covering emissions from buildings, transportation, energy, waste, and natural lands. Sustainability Committee Co-Chair Charlotte Dolenz said buildings account for roughly two-thirds of town greenhouse gas emissions and described the plan as "a starting point" to be reviewed annually. The board also unanimously appointed Kelly Calo as health director at Grade 16, Step 7, effective July 14, citing her 10 years of public health experience in Hudson, Sudbury, and Carlisle; approved a $114,900 landfill monitoring contract with Tay and Bond; and authorized construction of a boardwalk trail connecting Castle in the Trees to the Reuben Hoar Library at 300 King Street. Town Clerk Diane Corey presented an ADA self-evaluation and transition plan — completed two years ahead of schedule using a state grant — but formal adoption was deferred pending departmental review, with a Fay Park accessibility project targeting a special town meeting warrant article estimated at $400,000.
