Littleton Select Board Approves ADA Trail Grant, Appoints Parks Commission Member

LITTLETON — October 23, 2023 — Littleton Select Board approves ADA trail grant and appoints Parks Commission member ahead of November town meeting. The board unanimously authorized Interim Town Administrator Ryan Ferrara to execute a $30,285 MassTrails grant for an ADA-accessible trail at the Cloverdale conservation area, part of a $44,915 total project with the balance covered by highway labor and volunteer time; construction is targeted for fall 2024. In a joint session with the Parks and Recreation Commission, the board voted 7-0 to appoint Peter Church to fill a commission vacancy through May 2024. The board also accepted $5,000 from the Rotary Club of Littleton for the TREAD Fund and $1,000 from Ed's Weenies for a senior outreach fund, both gifts to the Department of Elder and Human Services. On ADA compliance more broadly, Vice Chair of the Disability Commission George Sanders told the board that Massachusetts distributed $4.4 million in disability access grants to 40 communities last year — and Littleton received none, a gap officials linked directly to the town's lack of a formal property compliance survey. The board amended its Special Town Meeting Article 2 to add a $1,708.99 ambulance billing invoice from Coastal Medical Billing, and previewed a consent agenda for the November 1 Special Town Meeting at Littleton Middle School.
