LITTLETON -- December 11, 2025, Littleton School Committee hires MASC to run superintendent search in 4-1 vote. The committee approved an $11,500 full contract with the Massachusetts Association of School Committees at its December 11 meeting, rejecting a free technical-support alternative and two competing firms after a lengthy debate. Members Janine Lutterloh and Sean Doyle, co-chairs of the superintendent search subcommittee, recommended MASC and its field director Alicia Malin, citing her regional knowledge and prior superintendent searches in Gloucester and Beverly. Chair Justin Vetrano cast the lone dissenting vote, arguing the same candidate pool would emerge without the fee and that "every dollar we spend is a dollar that doesn't end up in the classroom." Member Lynn Walker countered that "there is nothing more important than this role in this district in this moment." Paid advertising would cost an additional $4,000 per placement on top of the base fee. The committee also received word of a projected $2 million town-wide budget deficit driven by healthcare costs, and Athletics Director Mike Lundon flagged varsity football enrollment falling to 24 players, prompting talks about a potential co-op with Acton-Boxborough Regional.
