Littleton School Committee Unanimously Approves $25.5 Million FY2025 School Budget

LITTLETON — March 14, 2024 — Littleton School Committee unanimously approves $25.5 million FY2025 appropriated school budget. The committee voted 5-0 Thursday to approve a $25,488,928 appropriated budget for fiscal year 2025, a 4.3 percent increase over the prior year's $24,433,266, after trimming $250,000 from an initial request at the direction of the Finance Committee and Select Board. Business Manager Justin presented the numbers, noting that salaries — rising 4.5 percent to just under $19 million — represent 74.1 percent of the total. The $250,000 in cuts came from two vacant educational assistant positions ($112,087), deferred central office administrative support, $40,000 in classroom supplies, and $97,913 of a $150,000 curriculum materials request, all to be funded through the district's school choice reserve, which stood at just over $3 million as of June 30, 2023. When revolving funds and school choice expenditures are added, the total anticipated district budget for fiscal year 2025 is $30,155,010. The district's high school was ranked sixth among Boston-area schools by Boston Magazine; the middle school was recognized as one of the state's strongest performers.
