Littleton School Committee Interviews Ashland Assistant Superintendent for Open Superintendent Role

LITTLETON — March 31, 2026 — Littleton School Committee interviews superintendent finalist in open session. The committee convened March 31 at the Center on Shattuck for the first of two evenings of final candidate interviews for the district's open superintendent position, questioning a candidate identified as Mr. Kiara, the assistant superintendent for curriculum, instruction, and assessment in the Ashland Public Schools. The candidate, who described Littleton as a homecoming after beginning his teaching career in the district in 2000, detailed Ashland's current fiscal conditions, including a decision to eliminate 13.2 full-time equivalent positions regardless of the outcome of a pending override vote and the elimination of the district's director of social emotional learning. Committee Chair Justin McCarthy structured the session around 14 predetermined questions, with no public comment permitted; community members were directed to an online survey for feedback. The committee adjourned at 8:20 p.m. and was set to conduct a second final interview the following evening, April 1.
