Littleton School Committee Adopts Mission Statement, Hears Strong Assessment Data

LITTLETON — September 25, 2025 — Littleton School Committee adopts a new mission statement and receives strong MAP Growth and AP results ahead of October school building vote. The committee voted unanimously September 25 to adopt a revised mission statement and to re-confirm Frederick Kingsley's appointment to the Finance Committee for the 2024–2027 term. Director of Teaching and Learning Elizabeth Seale reported that district students at all grade levels are scoring above updated 2025 national norms on the NWEA MAP Growth assessment, with Russell Street School's third-, fourth-, and fifth-grade math scores exceeding pre-pandemic levels by 5.2, 5.8, and 2.5 RIT points respectively. On the AP front, administrator John Hankton reported that 134 students — roughly half the junior and senior class — sat for exams, with 91 percent of course-aligned test takers scoring a three or better and 15 students earning AP Scholar with Distinction recognition. Adelise Taber of 291 Goldsmith Road, chair of Yes for Littleton, announced a packed schedule of community events running through October 21, with the Shaker Lane school building project appearing as Article 1 at the October 28 Special Town Meeting.
