Littleton Planning Board Continues Storage Expansion Hearing to March Amid Neighbor Complaints

LITTLETON — January 9, 2025 — Littleton Planning Board continued a storage facility expansion hearing, advanced a marijuana bylaw update, and heard preliminary farm stand revival plans at its January 9 meeting. The board voted unanimously to continue the public hearing for Storage Rentals of America's proposed expansion at 515 Newtown Road — which would add a three-story-plus-basement building with 485 new storage units to an existing 230-unit facility — to March 13 at 6:45 p.m., directing the applicant to return with street-level renderings, a site cross-section, a corrected landscape plan, and a formal environmental impact analysis. Abutters Dominic Ryan of 544 Newtown Road and John Lewis of Omega Way described years of drainage erosion, snowplow debris crossing property lines, and lighting disrupting beekeeping, while Beau Raish, VP of Development for Storage Rentals of America, committed to walking the site with neighbors before the next hearing and called the project a chance "to fix all this in one go." The board unanimously voted to open a February 6 public hearing on a marijuana cultivation facilities bylaw update targeting the two remaining unregulated cultivation types in town, and heard an informal presentation from attorney Britta Cahoon on behalf of a prospective buyer of Gary's Farm Stand at 600 Great Road who intends to add on-premises fresh-butchered meats to the existing farm stand operation.
