Littleton Planning Board Approves Vet Cancer Center, Sets Two Zoning Hearings

LITTLETON — February 13, 2025 — Littleton Planning Board unanimously approved a site plan for a veterinary cancer care center at 531 King Street and set a March 13 deadline hearing on two zoning bylaws. The board approved the site plan modification allowing an outpatient pet chemotherapy practice, currently operating in Acton and represented by Deb Sapienza, to move into the former office condominium building behind Il Forno, with conditions requiring night-sky-compliant exterior lighting, an identified dumpster location on the site plan, and use restricted to cancer care without boarding or day care. Town Counsel Donna Brewer reported that the state Attorney General's Municipal Law Unit reversed an earlier uncertainty and will now support a bylaw provision barring marijuana micro businesses from also operating as cultivators, clearing the way for the original stricter draft bylaw to go to public hearing March 13 — the last date allowing the Select Board to place a ballot question at its March 24 meeting. The board also voted to advance a floodplain bylaw update to the same March 13 hearing, with members requesting clearer language distinguishing building-commissioner authority from ZBA authority and the addition of a definition for the term "water course." Separately, planning staff reported a $120,000 housing grant awarded to the Affordable Housing Trust for a homeowner repair program, and the addition of two Hager Homestead units to the town's subsidized housing inventory.
