Littleton Conservation Commission Defers Wetlands Order, Approves Long Lake Owl Walk

LITTLETON — September 2, 2025 — Littleton Conservation Commission unanimously approved a nighttime owl walk permit and continued a wetlands delineation hearing at its September 2 meeting. The commission voted to allow naturalist Laurie Nearing, a Mass Audubon staffer, to lead approximately 12 participants on a guided owl prowl through Long Lake Park trails on September 6, with a rain date of September 7. The continued public hearing for an Abbreviated Notice of Resource Area Delineation at 550 King Street — DEP file 204-1023 — was carried to the next meeting after commissioners Ed Fultz and Michael Livingston declined to approve an incomplete site plan, even though peer review had concurred with the applicant's wetland delineation and identified only minor flag adjustments of roughly 10 feet. The commission also confirmed that Town Counsel found no easements on the conservation-held Lakeshore Drive parcel U12-14-0, and discussed a joint session with the Select Board on September 8 to advance a path for removing structures from the parcel before cold-weather conditions make water access impractical.
