Meeting with only three of its members due to last-minute scheduling conflicts, the board voted 3-0 on July 10 to grant two variances for a failing septic system at 9 Tashley Road — reducing the groundwater offset from four feet to two feet and the tank outlet invert offset from 12 inches to six inches — based on a design by Kirk Fitzpatrick of Civil Solutions calling for a new 1,500-gallon tank, a 1,000-gallon pump chamber, and a Presby EnviroSeptic leaching field. The board also voted 3-0 to continue its public hearing on mobile food truck regulations, with members agreeing in discussion to shift permit expirations to April 1, add language requiring operators to notify the health department before each event, and explore whether commercial entities that hire food trucks bear responsibility if a truck lacks a valid permit.
