Select Board Adopts New Hiring Review Policy

Select Board · Meeting of September 28, 2026

Littleton Select Board requires its own sign-off before any town job vacancy gets refilled. The policy, adopted unanimously and running through June 30, 2027, lets Town Administrator James Duggan vet every vacancy before hiring begins. "I don't ever want to see us have to lay a member off in the community," said Chair Gary Wilson.

The board also created a five-member Data Center Working Group, led by liaison Kyle Bubp, to recommend policy by early 2027; Bubp said existing bylaws already require special permit review for structures over 50,000 square feet. Police Chief Douglas Landry presented four appointments, including new sergeants Ryan Richard and James Morine, telling the board Littleton "calls nine towns a night" when it can't fill traffic details locally. Littleton Electric Light and Water reported the state's lowest electric rate and $1.458 million collected in PFAS settlements.
