Littleton Select Board Elects Rambacher Chair, Sets Transfer Station Bag Fee Increase

LITTLETON — May 13, 2024 — Littleton Select Board unanimously elected Mark Rambacher as chair at its May 13 reorganization meeting and approved a 25-cent increase in transfer station bag fees effective July 1, 2024. Karen Morrison was elected vice chair and Matthew Norhouse was elected clerk, all for one-year terms. The board's most extended discussion focused on the Nagog Hill Orchard, whose proposed sale failed at the annual town meeting days earlier; members agreed the town must immediately pursue compliance with the Massachusetts Department of Agricultural Resources and convene a joint session with the Orchard Working Group before setting a new direction. Director of Public Works Steven Alley told the board that solid waste tonnage has grown from 625 tons in fiscal year 2022 to a projected 780 tons in fiscal year 2024, with a 5 percent contractual cost increase from Waste Management driving the bag fee proposal; sticker fees remain unchanged at $155 regular and $60 senior. The board also approved a new common victualer license for High Octane Brew Inc. doing business as Gourmet Donuts at 500 King Street, with longtime property owner Gary Archer purchasing the franchise from the prior operator.
