Littleton Planning Board Votes to Send Firearms Bylaw Fix to Fall Town Meeting

LITTLETON — July 6, 2023 — Littleton Planning Board votes unanimously to advance firearms business zoning corrections to fall Town Meeting. Acting Chair Ann Bartlett presided Thursday in place of absent Chair Mark Montanari at the July 6 planning board meeting, where the board closed a public hearing and voted three times — all unanimously — to forward two narrow administrative corrections to the town's firearms business bylaw to fall 2023 Town Meeting, tentatively set for November 1. The amendments, recommended by the state attorney general's office after it approved Littleton's February 2023 Article 10, add revocation procedures to section 173-24 and correct a scrivener's error in the use regulation schedule to clarify that firearms businesses may operate by special permit only in Industrial A or Industrial B districts. No public comment was received on the bylaw changes. The board also continued two pending applications — 550 Newtown Road storage facility and 555 Newtown Road open space shared driveway — both to August 3, and deferred a contentious discussion about whether Habitat for Humanity could build a long-delayed fourth affordable unit at Cooper Farm Estates on Dean Lane, with that item headed to the Affordable Housing Trust on July 18.
