Littleton Planning Board Unanimously Approves Mill Road Land Division for Light and Water

LITTLETON — April 20, 2023 — Littleton Planning Board unanimously endorsed an Approval Not Required plan to divide 97 Mill Road into two lots, paving the way for the town's Electric Light and Water Department to purchase the historic Mill Road property. The board voted 4-0 Thursday at a special Zoom meeting to approve the plan submitted by Kevin Conover of David Ross Associates on behalf of Warren Mills Realty LLC. The parcel, which sits adjacent to Route 495 and Beaver Brook, was described at the meeting as the former site of what may have been the oldest continuously operating sawmill in the United States and was most recently held by Parley Lumber before the current owner acquired it five to seven years ago. David Catching of the Light and Water Department confirmed the division is designed to protect a 100-foot wetland buffer zone along Beaver Brook, with the hope of eventually donating the buffer parcel to the town to expand the adjacent Mill Hill conservation land. The board also approved five outstanding invoices from Green International for engineering review and construction observation services totaling approximately $20,000.
