Littleton Planning Board Re-Elects Gates as Chair, Confirms MBTA Zoning Compliance

LITTLETON — May 15, 2025 — Littleton Planning Board re-elects Jeff Gates as chair and celebrates official MBTA Communities zoning compliance. Gates won a second one-year term Thursday over a competing nomination for Daryl Baker, who was elected vice chair; Bartlett Harvey was re-elected clerk. Planning staff announced that the Executive Office of Housing and Livable Communities has issued a formal compliance letter confirming Littleton's MBTA zoning district satisfies Section 3A of the Zoning Act, completing a multi-year effort that drew on outside consulting from Ennis Associates. The board also voted unanimously to approve the scenic road component of a two-lot residential development on Harwood Avenue, requiring the removal of three trees — a Norway maple, a dead red maple, and a sugar maple — and their replacement with two to three maples at two-and-a-half to three-inch caliper planted behind the existing stone wall, with Tree Warden Steve Witten reviewing the placement design. The stormwater portion of the Harwood Avenue application and a separate stormwater permit for 64 Beaver Brook Road were both continued to June 5 pending peer review by Green International.
