Littleton Planning Board Elects Yates Chair, Schedules Marijuana Cultivation Hearing

LITTLETON — June 13, 2024 — Littleton Planning Board reorganizes and schedules July 11 marijuana cultivation hearing. The board unanimously elected Jeff Yates as chair at its June 13 meeting — its first in roughly seven weeks — and moved Mark to vice chair and new member Daryl Baker into the clerk role. The board voted to schedule a July 11 public hearing on proposed amendments to the town's marijuana zoning bylaws that would consolidate the medical and adult-use dispensary articles, update language to match Cannabis Control Commission standards, and limit the number of cultivation special permits; town counsel Iria is expected to present a draft warrant article at that hearing. The board also finalized a 5-0 approval of the Strawberry Farms definitive subdivision at 95 Taylor Street and cleared a scenic road tree removal for that project, directing the developer to pay compensation to the highway department based on the tree warden's replacement formula of up to four trees at roughly $1,300 each. In the most consequential amendment of the evening, the board added a written condition to the 550 King Street Long Commons special permits requiring that the project's 40 senior affordable units be constructed no later than Phase 3, estimated between 2027 and 2029.
