Littleton Creates Animal Control Officer Post After Foxborough Ends Service Agreement

LITTLETON — June 10, 2024 — Littleton Select Board votes to establish new animal control officer post as Foxborough exits service agreement. The three-member board, meeting without Gary DeCoste and Robert Wilson, voted unanimously June 10 to create a grade-seven animal control officer position after the town of Foxborough notified Littleton it would end its animal control memorandum of agreement on July 1; the current arrangement costs the town roughly $35,000 to $36,000 annually, and officials said the new hire is expected to cost less. The board also approved three one-day wine and malt pouring licenses for the Rotary Club Carnival at 550 King Street, June 20 through 23, covering operators Pours and Bites LLC, Concord Brewing Inc. dba Rapscallion, and Sterling Street Brewery. Design firm Studio G Architects and owner's project manager Turner Townsend made their formal introduction to the board for the Shaker Lane Elementary School MSBA feasibility study, with a community survey expected in early July and a recommended construction direction — renovation, addition, or new construction — expected by end of summer. The board also authorized the Select Board chair to execute the purchase and sale agreement for the Webster parcel consistent with the May 7 Annual Town Meeting vote, with possession expected after July 1.
