Littleton Board of Health Approves Two Septic Variances for Failed Dahlia Drive System
Littleton Board of Health approves Dahlia Drive septic variances, continues Aspen Road hearing over room-count concerns.
LITTLETON -- January 8, 2025, Littleton Board of Health approves Dahlia Drive septic variances, continues Aspen Road hearing over room-count concerns. The board voted four to zero at its January 8 meeting to approve two Title V variances for a failed system at 8 Dahlia Drive, including a reduction of the groundwater separation offset from five feet to three feet using a Presby EnviroSeptic system, and approval of a six-inch, rather than the required 12-inch, separation between the seasonal high water table and the tank inverts, with tanks to be sealed as monolithic H20 units. A separate public hearing for 9 Aspen Road, where homeowner Joe Kidd is seeking to add an office above the garage and a first-floor family room, bathroom, and laundry room to a deed-restricted two-bedroom property, was continued to January 22 after board members raised concerns that the family room addition "looks like a studio apartment, which obviously would put this at a three-bedroom house," in the words of member Dan Kane. Health Director Francis Daigle reported the town's COVID-19 vaccination rate stands at 28 percent and RSV test positivity has risen from 3 percent in November to nearly 26 percent statewide. The board also agreed to immediately deploy all 10 PurpleAir air quality grant sensors at confirmed sites before a 30-day return deadline, with a second phase planned to reposition units using scientific wind and topography data.
