Littleton Board of Health Approves Septic Variances at Six Properties in Single Meeting

LITTLETON — July 26, 2023 — Littleton Board of Health approves multiple septic variances and sets August 9 deadline on housing enforcement case. The board voted unanimously July 26 to grant a local approving authority waiver at 1 and 2 Monarch Drive — allowing construction of a Septic Tech nitrogen-removal system with approximately one inch of groundwater separation and up to 4.7 feet of soil cover over new tanks, both outside standard Title 5 parameters. Engineer Sue Carter of Places Associates cited the constraints of a 1986 tank whose outlet elevation is essentially fixed by the existing building structure. The board also accepted sewer escrow documents for a four-lot development at 213 Air Road, approved a fill variance for 30 Mill Lane, and continued an odor enforcement case involving a Crane Road-area cannabis cultivation facility to September 13 after consultant Michael Landon of Tech Environmental reported industrial carbon filters were being installed. Health Agent Jim Griffey told the board that housing court is the next step for 37 Dogwood Road if a poly barrier and remaining code deficiencies are not completed by August 9 — a list that has been pending since at least late May.
