Littleton Board of Health Holds Activity Curfews, Defers Code of Conduct to October

LITTLETON — September 25, 2024 — Littleton Board of Health maintains Triple E curfews, opens quarry dust investigation, and schedules fall vaccination clinic. The board voted unanimously to postpone a public hearing on a proposed Code of Conduct to October 23, citing the absence of member Kevin Davis, who had been assigned follow-up drafting work. Board of Health Director Francis reported approximately 96 positive mosquito samples this season and four confirmed human EEE cases in Massachusetts — equaling the state's entire 2020-to-2023 total — and recommended the board continue following DPH-recommended outdoor activity end times, currently set at 6:30 p.m. Brad Lang of 76 New Estate Road, representing the town soccer program, asked the board to consider an exemption for high school varsity games at Alumni Stadium, saying cooler weather had reduced mosquito pressure on the fields. Member Dan Cain disclosed he had filed an air quality complaint as a resident about fine white powder accumulating on homes near a local aggregate quarry, and the board confirmed it had already contacted the quarry owner, initiated a site visit, and reached out to DEP — a process that parallels a recent Westford quarry enforcement case. The town also received a Healey administration grant for ten Purple Air PM2.5 monitors, with placement to be determined in coordination with IT. A combined COVID and flu vaccination clinic is set for October 22, 3 to 6 p.m., at Littleton Middle School, 55 Russell Street.
