Disability Commission backs Braille trail, delays on Fay Park fix

Littleton Disability Commission backs a sixth statewide Braille trail, presses Parks and Recreation on a stalled Fay Park fix. Chair Diane Crory and members George A. Sanders Sr., Gary Wilson and Erich Manser voted 4-0 to support a Conservation Commission proposal for a 0.32-mile Braille trail on the Yapp property, complete with sensory garden, voice-activated markers and a grade capped at three degrees for ADA compliance.
On Fay Park, Sol Marini of the Parks and Recreation Commission said a redesigned accessibility project, prompted by a resident's complaint about an unwalkable field during the town's July 4 picnic, has fallen from an estimated $200,000 to $230,000 to about $150,000. Sanders warned against spending "before we know what they want to do," while Manser called the complaint "an opportunity" to keep the resident engaged. No vote was taken on Fay Park; the commission also approved its May minutes 4-0 and set its next meeting for September 11.
