Littleton Select Board picks Gilbane to manage Chico Lane School construction
Littleton Select Board approves highway union schedule change and names Gilbane Building Company to lead Chico Lane School project.
LITTLETON -- December 22, 2025, Littleton Select Board approves highway union schedule change and names Gilbane Building Company to lead Chico Lane School project. The board voted unanimously Monday to approve a side letter agreement with AFSCME Council 93, Local 1703 shifting transportation employees to a four-day, 40-hour work week with 10-hour days, after Member Mark Rambaker pressed for clarification on paid lunch provisions that had raised questions about effective weekly hours. Town Administrator Jim announced that Gilbane Building Company was selected as construction manager at risk for the new Chico Lane School following a competitive prequalification process, and that the Chico Lane Building Committee accepted the recommendation unanimously; officials said schedule acceleration and "significant savings" are expected but declined to specify amounts. The board also approved its annual private-way plowing list under its 2000 policy, with Director of Public Works Steve Allen signaling he will seek to eliminate the program, which uses public funds to plow private streets, after the winter, a move likely requiring a Town Meeting vote. Finance Committee member Brian Tarbox resigned after roughly 10 years of service, crediting policies he helped develop with earning the town a double-notch Moody's credit rating upgrade worth an estimated $1 million or more in reduced borrowing costs.
