Littleton Select and Planning Boards jointly appoint Bloomstein to fill Planning Board vacancy

LITTLETON — March 9, 2026 — Littleton selects Bloomstein for Planning Board, approves $7.2 million school note. In a joint session with the Planning Board, the Littleton Select Board voted 9 to 0 to appoint Margot Bloomstein of 7 Wilson Lane to fill the seat vacated by Anna Hueston's resignation, with the term running through the May 9, 2026 Annual Town Election. Before reaching that unanimous outcome, the combined nine-member body first voted 7 to 2 — with Planning Board members Daryl Baker and Mark Montanari dissenting — on whether to fill the seat at all, given only two meetings remain before the election. Bloomstein, a brand and content strategy consultant, had already pulled nomination papers for the full two-year elected term. Applicant Stephen Moore had rescinded his application the morning of the meeting, and Peter Scott did not attend. The board also unanimously approved a $7,209,898 Bond Anticipation Note for the $99.7 million Shaker Lane Elementary School project, sold to Truist Securities, Inc. at a net interest cost of 2.288 percent — the lowest of seven competing bids received March 2 — following S&P Global's February 20 reaffirmation of the town's Triple-A bond rating. A contentious discussion over whether the Affordable Housing Trust should fund a feasibility study on converting the current Town Hall at 37 Shattuck Street into deeply affordable senior housing ended without a vote, with Select Board member Mark Rambacher calling the proposal an "end-around town meeting" and the board reaching informal consensus that any expenditure should first be authorized by Town Meeting, with Affordable Housing Trust Chair Marianne Heer signaling the Trust would support up to $100,000 for such a study through a warrant article.
