Littleton Schools Post 77 Percent AP Passing Rate, 93 Percent MAP Average Performance

LITTLETON — September 28, 2023 — Littleton schools report strong AP results and MAP Growth rebound as Shaker Lane building process advances. The School Committee heard Thursday that 127 Littleton High School students sat for 240 Advanced Placement exams in the 2022-2023 school year — a record-high exam count — with 77 percent earning a passing score of three or higher and 23 percent scoring a five, well above state and national benchmarks. Assistant Principal Keith Camo noted that Massachusetts students passed AP exams at a rate of 30.5 percent and national students at 21.6 percent, compared to 82 percent of Littleton exam-takers earning at least one qualifying score. Director of Teaching and Learning Elizabeth Steele then presented MAP Growth data showing 93 percent of district students in grades two through eight performing at average or above in both reading and math, with 74 percent at or above grade-level mean in math and 75 percent in reading. On the building front, officials said the required narrative document for the Massachusetts School Building Authority's approval of the district's chosen Owner's Project Manager for Shaker Lane must be submitted by October 11, with an appearance at the November 2 MSBA board meeting expected to follow.
