Littleton School Committee Votes to Seek State Funding for High School Roof Replacement

LITTLETON — April 10, 2025 — Littleton School Committee authorizes MSBA application for $4-5 million high school roof and boiler project. The committee voted unanimously Thursday to authorize Superintendent Kelly Clancy and Business Manager Steve Mark to submit a Statement of Interest to the Massachusetts School Building Authority covering approximately 58,000 square feet of remaining roof at Littleton High School and the building's two original cast-iron boilers — a combined project Mark estimated at $4 million to $5 million. The Select Board had voted earlier in the week to approve the filing, which was due April 11. Mark acknowledged the district may not meet MSBA's criteria on the first attempt but said the filing gets Littleton "on the radar screen," the same path the district followed with the Shaker Lane Elementary School replacement. The committee also unanimously appointed Ed Mullen as the alternate representative to the Nashoba Valley Technical High School District School Committee in a joint roll-call vote with Select Board members and Town Moderator Kim Goddard. Separately, four student teams who competed at the Massachusetts Science and Engineering Fair on April 4 presented their research, including a project on caffeine as an environmental pollutant using zebrafish models, a diabetes study using silkworms and vitamin B12, a coastal erosion mitigation experiment using rockweed algae, and an analysis of temperature effects on hydrogen fuel cell efficiency.
