Littleton School Committee Approves School Choice Seats, Names Shaker Lane Architect

LITTLETON — April 11, 2024 — Littleton School Committee unanimously approves fiscal year 2025 school choice seats and confirms Studio G Architects for Shaker Lane project. The committee voted 5-0 Thursday to accept Superintendent Kelly Clinchill's recommended seat allocations, which include five kindergarten and four grade-two openings at Shaker Lane, with Clinchill noting that school choice revenue has been essential to maintaining clinical and specialty staffing across the district. Clinchill also confirmed that an MSBA panel selected Studio G Architects on Tuesday after a first-round tie vote, with contract negotiations to begin immediately and a state-imposed July 15 deadline for an educational plan. In curriculum presentations, Math Coordinator Elizabeth Rigo reported that 100 percent of grade-10 students passed the MCAS math exam — a first in recent years — with a mean student growth percentile of 65, while flagging a two-year trend of more students partially meeting expectations that she attributed to lingering pandemic-era disruption. Health and PE Coordinator Meredith Perry announced that every Littleton school now has at least one full-time PE teacher and that the Youth Risk Behavior Survey was narrowed this year to grade 8 and above after the clinical team determined survey questions were not developmentally appropriate for younger students.
