Littleton School Committee Approves Eight Policies, Gets Crisis App and Budget Updates

LITTLETON — November 30, 2023 — Littleton School Committee approves eight governance policies and hears a 5.34 percent budget increase is on the table for fiscal year 2025. The committee, meeting for roughly 20 minutes on November 30, voted unanimously to adopt second readings of policies BDFA, BEC, BEDB, BDF, BDG, BE, and BEDD, with pronoun corrections made to one policy following its first reading. Business Director Steve told the board the district is "in good shape" financially, with a preliminary FY25 budget request of approximately $1.3 million above the current year's budget submitted to the town, driven largely by salaries. Superintendent Brian Grunty presented an update on Crisis Go, an emergency communication app the district has contracted with that will allow staff to broadcast instant alerts, access student rosters, and share building maps with first responders — though Grunty cautioned the implementation is running nine to 12 months, longer than expected. The MSBA has approved the owner's project manager firm for the Shaker Lane building project, with a full building committee introduction meeting set for December 6.
