Littleton School Committee Appoints Financial Policies Rep, Hears District Technology Update

LITTLETON — January 11, 2024 — Littleton School Committee receives sweeping technology update and appoints Financial Policies Working Group representative. The committee voted unanimously Thursday to appoint member Justin McCarthy to the town's reconstituted Financial Policies Working Group, a multi-board body revived following a failed land purchase at Town Meeting. In a 90-minute technology session, all four building principals and Director of Instructional Technology Julie Lord outlined progress on the district's one-to-one device program — now fully K-12 — interactive panel rollouts in nearly every classroom, a student-led Chromebook repair program called Tiger Tech, and emerging use of augmented reality tools funded by a Littleton Electric grant. Business Manager Steve Manck reported the district is on pace fiscally at the year's midpoint, but warned the upcoming budget cycle "will be pretty tough," with the Select Board and Finance Committee asking all departments to scale back. The committee also unanimously approved two batches of board policies on second reading and entered executive session for contract negotiations.
