Littleton's Park and Recreation Commission reported it expects the Select Board to vote October 19 on a new recreation director's salary, setting up a special appointment meeting as soon as next week. A staff member identified as Mo told commissioners the summer day camp brought in approximately $540,000 in revenue this year against roughly $341,000 in labor costs and $25,000 in trip expenses, numbers Mo called consistent with prior years. Commissioners also said construction on a new school building could eliminate green space and playground access at Shaker Lane as soon as next summer, with a meeting with the school department scheduled for Thursday to discuss alternatives, including a limited look at Russell Street School.
Commissioner Robin said staffing conversations with recreation employees remain on hold "until the director is on board." The commission approved its prior meeting's minutes and finalized logistics for an October 24 Trunk-or-Treat event with seven registered vehicles plus town DPW, fire and police participation.
