Littleton Disabilities Commission backs $488,000 Fay Park gazebo and pathway rebuild. Chair Diane Crurie told the three-member commission a routine accessibility complaint expanded into a full rebuild after inspectors found the park's gazebo structurally unsound; it has since been demolished. The project now totals up to $338,000 for a new zero-step, ADA-compliant gazebo plus $150,000 for a pathway and benches, and Crurie said pursuing town Community Preservation Act funding could get it built by next summer, versus nearly two years through a state grant.
Commissioners discussed asking Nashoba Tech to bid on construction and floated funding support from Littleton's road race committee, which uses the gazebo as a start point. "So, you're talking almost two years," one member said of the state-grant timeline. The commission also has a vacant seat after a member named Bill resigned.
Minutes were accepted 3-0, and the panel adjourned at 12:55 p.m.
