Littleton Board of Health Elects Waston Chair, Continues Basement Variance to August
LITTLETON — June 12, 2024 — Littleton Board of Health installs new leadership and turns back a basement bedroom bid. The board unanimously elected Dr. Matt Waston as chair, Kevin Davis as vice chair, and Kevin Baker as clerk at its June 12 meeting, replacing outgoing Chair Dan Kane in a sweep of all three officer positions. Before the reorganization, the board voted 4-0 to continue a contested public hearing for 6 Porter Road, where homeowners sought a deed restriction to finish an approximately 1,296-square-foot basement that members said clearly included a sixth bedroom on a five-bedroom septic system. "These drawings clearly show that they're looking to make it a six bedroom house," said Waston. The hearing was continued to August 28. The board also voted 4-0 to approve a replacement Geomat septic system at 70 Goldsmith Street, granting three local upgrade approvals including use of a sieve analysis in place of a percolation test and a reduced groundwater offset for tank inverts, citing persistent high groundwater on the small lot.
