Library Trustees · Meeting of October 8, 2026
Littleton's Library Board of Trustees voted to transfer $9,000 from a library gift fund to cover landscaping tied to its wetlands permit closeout. Library Director Sam told trustees the town's roughly $2 million deficit, cut to $1.2 million, pushed departments to submit level FY28 budgets early; the library requested $203,000 in total expenses, a 5.03 percent increase, plus an estimated $17,000, or 1.84 percent, payroll bump. Trustees approved updated hours-of-operation, internet and confidentiality-of-records policies and tabled a 3D-printer policy for more work.
They also learned the Merrimack Valley Library Consortium will stop hosting free trustee email accounts by next August. A narrowed Select Board charter article proposing a town-manager model will not go before Fall Town Meeting after trustees and Charter Committee members raised concerns it omitted library-oversight language and moved too fast, with Town Counsel's red-lined review arriving "the day of the meeting."
