Littleton committee to adopt first written goals this fall

Littleton School Committee previews first-ever written goals as new chair, superintendent take over together. Chair Elaine Santelman, entering her first year in the role, told Vice Chair Sean Ahern on the "Pause on Littleton Public Schools" podcast that the committee will adopt formal goals and new operating protocols at its September 10 meeting, work drafted at a summer retreat. She said Littleton Public Schools finalized AI-use guidelines in June, developed since January by a working group led by Instructional Technology Coordinator Julie Lord, covering data privacy, academic integrity and a graphic showing how much AI use is appropriate per assignment: "Instead of saying no AI ever, it says this is the amount that's appropriate." Santelman also discussed the district's multiyear Universal Design for Learning rollout, now in its third or fourth year, and said the committee is considering making the high school student representative a non-voting member.
The committee's next meeting is Thursday, September 10, at 7 p.m. at the Littleton Police Station.
