Littleton Select Board Appoints Veterans Director, Finance Member at First 2026 Meeting

LITTLETON — January 12, 2026 — Littleton Select Board fills veterans director post and Senior Center position in first meeting of 2026. The board voted unanimously Monday to appoint Nicholas Hamilton, a Marine Corps veteran and current Lowell firefighter, as Director of Veterans Services for a three-year term expiring January 12, 2029, after the appointment was postponed from December. The board also approved a new full-time Office Coordinator for the Department of Elder and Human Services at Grade 9, responding to what Director Liz Tretiak described as roughly 2,400 activity sign-ins and 215 outreach visits per month at the new Shattuck Street facility. Political science professor Sam Hayes of Simmons University was appointed to fill the Finance Committee seat vacated by 10-year member Brian Tarbox, with a term through June 30, 2027. Town Administrator James Duggan was designated the Select Board's representative to school union contract negotiations, a contract that member Gary Wilson noted covers more than half the town's budget. On the operational side, Duggan reported that a National Grid insulation grant for the King Street building was increased from $7,200 to more than $23,000 and that Town Counsel is working toward purchasing a replacement town ambulance after repeated mechanical failures.
