Commission affirms 2026 herbicide treatment schedule

Littleton Conservation Commission holds firm on herbicide timeline for Forge Pond and Long Lake. The Commission, led by Co-Chair Sarah Seaward, declined to extend the timeline for herbicide treatments beyond 2026 despite requests from the Community Preservation Committee to expand the work across three years. Conservation Agent Tim Pearson was instructed to resubmit three applications as written and to continue coordinating with Westford on the Forge Pond project.
The Commission also discussed terrestrial invasive species disposal options with the Littleton Conservation Trust but deferred a decision on site placement to a future meeting.
