Charter Committee votes to reassign Finance Committee appointment authority

Littleton Charter Committee · Meeting of January 5, 2026

Littleton Charter Committee votes 8 to 1 on Finance Committee appointments. Chair Betsy Bohling opened discussion on whether the Board of Assessors should retain appointment authority for one Finance Committee position if it becomes an appointed board; members voted instead to assign the authority to the Library Trustees, an elected body with strong community engagement. The committee also continued charter review, leaning toward removing language allowing the Select Board to cancel the fall town meeting and refining Town Meeting procedures language.

Members formed a subcommittee including Brogan, Goddard, and Rounce to address document details. The next public forum is February 28.
